1069. George Washington⁸ Purnell (Isaac⁷, Milby Selby⁶, Zadock⁵, Thomas⁴, Matthew³, Thomas², Thomas¹) was born in MD June, 1854. His cemetery stone says 1855. George died 1924 in Snow Hill, Worcester Co., MD.

He married twice. He married (N) (wife of George W. Purnell) in MD, about 1877. He married Harriet J. "Hettie" Murray in MD, 1880. Harriet was born in Worcester Co., MD July, 1859. Her cemetery stone says 1860. Harriet was the daughter of Robert Murray and Henrietta(wife of Robert Murray).

Harriet died 1918 in Snow Hill, Worcester Co., MD. George was age 15 on the 1870 census. He and his family are shown in Worcester County in the 1900 census. A letter written by Georgette Purnell Claypoole says George was a farmer and lumberman and that he lived at Powellsville, Maryland. 1338 iii. Edith Purnell was born in MD April, 1886. She married William B. Jarman in Worcester Co., MD, December 24, 1901. William was born 1878. Children: Burnice Jarman, Beatrice Jocelyn Jarman, Carolyn Jarman, Ethelyn Jarman, Wilma Jarman.

1339 iv. George Irving Purnell was born in Snow Hill, Worcester Co., MD August 26, 1889. George died August 3, 1966 in Centre Co., PA. He married Carolyn "Carrie" Madeline Heller in Worcester Co., MD, December 18, 1912. Carolyn was born in Strasbourg, Alsace Lorraine June 2, 1888. Carolyn was the daughter of George Antoine Heller and Anne Marie Schmitt. Carolyn died July 13, 1935 in Centre Co., PA. George married second Pauline White in July, 1939, and they were divorced. He married third Mary Elizabeth Junkin Hibard in 1950. Mary died in 1969. George and his wives Carrie and Mary are all buried at Union Cemetery at Bellefonte, PA. (Karen L. Robert & George I. 1340 v. Herman Lloyd Purnell was born in MD February, 1890. He married Dolly(wife of Herman Purnell).

1341 vi. Paul J. Purnell was born in MD February, 1892. He married May(wife of Paul Purnell).

1342 vii. Calvin Lawrence Purnell was born in MD February, 1894. He married Ida Mason.

1343 viii. Bess Ellen Purnell was born in MD July, 1896. She married Federick Metzler.

1344 ix. Ralph Roosevelt Purnell was born in MD June 29, 1900. Ralph died 1986. He married twice. He married Lucille Long. He married Jackie(wife of Ralph Purnell).
