1117. John⁹ Custis (John⁸, Thomas⁷, John⁶, Elizabeth⁵, Margaret⁴ Michael, Elizabeth³ Thorowgood, Adam², William¹) was born May 2, 1778. John died November 17, 1848 in Accomack Co., VA, at 70 years of age.

He married twice. He married Tabitha Gillett. Tabitha was born March 26, 1775. Tabitha died October 17, 1822 at 47 years of age. He married Sarah Henderson February 25, 1823. Sarah was born 1781. Sarah died after 1823.

John Custis and Tabitha Gillett had the following children:

1475 i. Thomas¹⁰ Custis was born January 12, 1802. Thomas died December 21, 1840 at 38 years of age. He married Elizabeth A.P. Scarburgh in Accomack Co., VA, December 7, 1829. Elizabeth was born December 7, 1811. Elizabeth was the daughter of William Meredith Ker Scarburgh and Anne Parker Teackle. Elizabeth died April 1, 1848 at 36 years of age. 1476 ii. John Custis was born December 23, 1807. John died December 28, 1837 at 30 years of age.

1477 iii. William Samuel Custis was born October 14, 1809. William died February 8, 1876 at 66 years of age. He married Eleanor Douglas Wise 1832. Eleanor was born January 22, 1812. Eleanor was the daughter of Tully Robinson Wise(Dr.) and Mary White or Fisher. Eleanor died March 9, 1866 at 54 years of age. (Bill Burton)
