38. SOUTHY⁴ WHITTINGTON (SOUTHY³, WILLIAM², WILLIAM¹) (#371) was born in Somerset Co. MD about 1732. SOUTHY died before December 27, 1786 in Worchester Co MD, at approximately 54 years of age.

He married ESTHER NAIRN. (ESTHER NAIRN is #373.) ESTHER was born about 1734. ESTHER was the daughter of ROBERT NAIRN and JANNET WATTS. ESTHER died before February 11, 1806 in Worchester Co MD, at approximately 71 years of age. Esther's will was dated September 10, 1805, Worcester County, MD. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Wills, MH, p.1) Southy is listed as serving in the Revolutionary War (Woodrow T. Wilson, 34 Families of Old Somerset, Baltimore, MD, Gateway Press, p. 133). Administrative bonds were posted December 27, 1786 by son, Southy as next of kin, with Aaron Sterling and J. Gunby. + 99 iii. SARAH WHITTINGTON was born about 1760.

+ 100 iv. SOUTHY LITTLETON WHITTINGTON was born about 1763.

101 v. JEANITT WHITTINGTON (#1226) was born about 1763. JEANITT died before June 14, 1803 in Worchester Co MD, at approximately 39 years of age. Jeanitt's will dated May 9, 1803 names her mother, Esther; brother, John N.; sisters Elizabeth Gunby and Leah Long; niece Leah Long; nephew, James Gillett; and mentions Hessey Selby, Esther Marshall and Polly Marshall. 102 vi. ESTHER WHITTINGTON (#7171) was born about 1768. She married LEVIN SELBY. (LEVIN SELBY is #7172.) Esther's descendants are continued in "The Littleton Heritage."

+ 103 vii. ELIZABETH WHITTINGTON was born about 1772.

+ 104 viii. LEAH WHITTINGTON was born about 1774.

105 ix. CATHERINE "CATY" WHITTINGTON (#1227) was born about 1778. She married twice. She married JOHN MILES. (JOHN MILES is #6369.) She married JESSE POWELL in Worcester Co. MD, June 1, 1799. (JESSE POWELL is #1229.) JESSE was born about 1740. JESSE was the son of JOHN POWELL and BETTY BRITTINGHAM. JESSE died 1811 at 71 years of age. Named in her mother's will, which is abstracted to read Caty Gunby. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Wills Book MH, p.1; Woodrow T.
