He married Esther Robins 1788. Esther was born in Worcester Co., MD about 1760. Esther was the daughter of Thomas Robins(Cpt.) and Aralanta Purnell. Esther died 1812 in Worcester Co., MD. She made a will in Worcester Co., MD, August 10, 1811. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Co., MD, MH, p.28)

Esther's will was probated in Worcester Co., MD, November 20, 1812.

Lemuel's will was probated in Worcester Co., MD, November 14, 1818. Lemuel was named in the will of Littleton Robins in 1815 and given land land in Somerset, stock in the Bank of Somerset and a lot in Snow Hill. Lemuel named his sister, Catherine G. Purnell. 432 ii. Arlanta Purnell was born in Worcester Co., MD October 30, 1790. Arlanta died August 21, 1791 in Worcester Co., MD. (dates-Melanie Ayres Merryweather, Genealogy of the Purnell Family, p.31)

433 iii. John Godden Purnell(Dr.) was born in Worcester Co., MD July 6, 1791. John is shown in the 1820 census at Snow Hill, Worcester County: 1M26-45, 1F16-26; 1F26-45; 1 free person of color. John was seized of the property at "Rochester" and was living outside the state of Maryland in 1825. 434 iv. Chessed Purnell(Dr.) was born in Worcester Co., MD about 1793. Chessed died March 2, 1862 in Worcester Co., MD. His body was interred in Worcester Co., MD, All Hallows Church.
